Suit of Armor

Yesterday I had an epiphany. I was thinking about the person in my life that has hurt me the most. This person I have carried anger and resentment and confusion around for years and years. I thought about my pain. And then I started thinking about people that I may have hurt. People I know I have hurt and others that I don't even know I have hurt.

I felt sad that I could do that to another person. And then I realized…..that person that hurt me, well, they never would have hurt me if they had known what they were really doing. And then I thought about how sad it is that they did hurt me and how hard that must be to carry around.

I still don't know what forgiveness really means but I do know that our nature as human beings is not to maliciously hurt each other.

As the news grows and our media consumption increases we see more violence and baffling harm and hurt. But remember this, you alone have the power to change this. You alone can help to heal the world. It is our responsibility as mentally healthy and rational people to do our best to face each day with all of the kindness and joy we can muster.

We must wake up in the morning and realize that our suit of armor is a sleeve of kindness, pants of forgiveness, shoes of gratitude……every morning prepare yourself for battle. As you start your day, this is your time to get your mind ready. No matter what is facing you out there YOU have the control to react however you wish.

No one is perfect…..but as long as you remember to try every day to conquer the world with just a little kindness then you should know as you lay down that you just changed the world, a little bit, in the right direction.

My favorite quote right now is:
Sometimes I wonder why I chase the same goal over and over for years and years. To lose weight, to be more successful, to find a mate, to read more and etc etc etc.

Why do some people seem to get rich, be happy, lose weight and I can't?

I realized that in order to get what I have never had I must do what I have never done.

What does that mean for me?

A. I am working hard and with more confidence and enthusiasm and honesty than I ever have in my career.

B. I am running and trying get physical as much as possible.

C. I am evaluating my concept of relationships and trying to improve myself in order to draw a like person to me.

D. I am forcing myself to find balance which means a. work b. exercise c. read d. blog d. focus on gratitude

If you have made the decision that you want something outside of your normal scope of everyday life.....weight lose, to make more money, to be happier....then all of those things are possible but they take work.

Doing what you have never done really translates into doing what is not natural. Your body and mind will fight you but MUST fight back. You are strong and beautiful. Show the world what you are made can do anything you want to do. You just need to decide.

What do you want the most?
Better relationship with your kids, more money, better body, a house, a new car, peace, true love...............Decide. And do something diffferent...everyday.

To Prometheus or Not To Prometheus, that is the question.
IT'S JUST MY "2Cents"
If I only had 1 thumb to rate Prometheus it would be THUMBS DOWN.

Here are my random thoughts:

* The first 5 minutes of the movie are AHHHHmazing!

* The 3D is good, especially the first 5 minutes!

* Charlize Theron was less than impressive.

* If you don't know the actual Prometheus story don't expect to understand the movie at all. I certainly didn't on either account.

* There is a part in the movie that felt like you were watching an actual surgery gone wrong (I had to close my eyes it was so gross)

* I did not connect with a single character.

* If you are there with someone you enjoy sitting next to it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

* It felt like a mashup of Alien and Abyss

That's all! It's just my "2 Cents".....I hope if you see it you enjoy it. :0)

Box of Sunshine

I have found that times when I don't feel particularly happy or I feel down or low that doing something nice for others will offer up what I need. Something about giving or the empowering feeling of being able to make someone smile works like a boomerang and hits me right where I need it most.

I found this idea on and put it in action! I sent a "Box of Sunshine" to some customers and friends. It wasn't anything expensive but thoughtful.

Box of Sunshine -- Basically anything yellow will work!

Here are other boxes I sent but no picturess:

"Blue without you" box-- Dad -- Blue candy, pens, notebook, and general nick nacks

"Purple is for Royalty" box-- Madre -- Purple candy, eye shadow, key chain, notebook and etc.

"On Fire" box-- Customer -- He just got a Kindle Fire so I sent him a package of Red candy, Anything that had the word 'Fire' so cheetos, chili chocolate, fire gum, fire balls, altoids, match box cars with flame on the side.

I am glad to be back. Thank you for reading......even if I don't know you are here I appreciate it. I appreciate you.

It has been so long since I posted here. Thank you to Bre Stark for your encouragement and continued pushes and nudges. I took a vacation from posting and I am not quite sure why. I felt stressed, overwhelmed, underwhelmed and generally not inspired. And as I pulled this page up and saw my little articles I remembered why I started doing this in the first place......because it just makes me feel good. So in the spirit of things I do when I feel down in the dumps to make myself feel better.....this blogs for you. :-)

5 Tips To Get Yourself Running
I never was the girl in school that liked PE or ran track. In fact, I remember walking the mile with my other slacker girlfriends and we clocked our mile in well over 20 minutes. And then one day I was on the phone with a friend and we were talking about wanting to lose weight, like every conversation eventually leads to, and while on the phone I signed us up for our first 5K.....I was 31 and the last time I ran was in High School. We didn't really know how to prepare and we just tried to run in our neighborhoods.

We showed up nervous and feeling out of place but we realized that there were lots of people just like us there.....but also lots of 'runners' too. Anyways, my long winded point here is leading into my 1st and most important tip:

1. Just Sign Up! -- Go right now to and find a 5k in the next month and sign up. Even if you walk the whole thing you have to catch the bug and you will either leave there so excited for your next run or you will leave there knowing this whole running thing isn't for you. But there is so much excitement and awesomeness at 5K's......and I promise you 1/3 of the people walk the whole thing because if you think about it they are almost always for fund raising and there are lots of people there to support the cause not to race for time.

2. PLAN! -- Get yourself a whiteboard and find a plan online. They are all pretty decent but the most important thing is to just have a plan. You need to run at least 3 days a week to get your body in the groove. Once you have been running for awhile you will start adding drills and additional days but for now commit to 3 days and put it on your calendar. Start out with a 4 min jog and 1 min walk for 1 mile the first week.....or whatever your plan says (I know lots of people do Couch to 5k or Jeff Galloway) But here are 2 things to remember: 1. Its not as much about the running as it is about just being on your feet moving right now. Get to 3 miles and you should be able to do that in 3-4 weeks no MATTER who you are, unless you have a medical condition, of course. The other thing to remember is that running is the only thing that improves your running. You can't substitute for spinning, elliptical or step class....sorry but its true. While those things help in many other ways (endurance, heart rate, lung capacity, fat burning) they don't help your run. So 3 days a week you need to just go out there and get your run on.

3. Motivation -- It is important for you to really think about why you want to do this. Everyone has their own objectives.....I would imagine the majority is to lose weight. But frankly, that is a dangerous thing to focus on because if you don't see it right away we have a tendency to stop. Regardless, however, whatever it is find your motivation. My motivation changes all the time. When I first started I would really focus on how much I was giving respect to my when my heart was beating hard and I could barely breath and my legs hurt I would think that those were all the feelings of me doing great things for those organs to make them stronger and to make me healthier. Find yours and think about it when you run!

4. STUFF -- Here are some great things to get now because as your running increases they become requirements. RoadRunner will fit you for personal insoles. I don't care if you run or not, every podiatrist will highly suggest you to get these and wear them all the time.....ESPECIALLY if you are running! Get them! I think it is great to have a heart rate monitor in the beginning to understand your body and how hard you are pushing yourself.

5. Water & Carbs -- Here is the deazy....if you do not drink enough water running freakin sucks hard. Your body does all these weird things and pulls water from your muscles which make you cramp and exhausted and your body then works extra hard to generate water(sweat) to cool itself down. I am telling you....drink water ALL the time and especially tons 2 hours before you run. If you are 3 miles you should be fine without having to carry a water pack unless its hot outside. OK - If you are running 3 miles or less, I am sorry to break this sadness to you but forget the 3 huge servings of pasta the night before. You are not running far enough to need to carb load like that. Have a regular dinner.
